The Oliver Cemetery was designated as an Historical Cemetery in 2004. The first grave in the cemetery was that of Virginia Ann Bliss, daughter of Joseph Marion Oliver and Martha Jane Young Oliver. The Oliver Cemetery Descendants of Cedar Valley have maintained the cemetery for many years.
This year’s meeting of the Oliver Cemetery Descendants will be Saturday, October 5, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. at the cemetery. There are two concrete benches in the cemetery, but it is advisable to bring your own seating. The purpose of this meeting will be to discuss the care and maintenance of the old oak trees that grow in the cemetery. Most of the oldest headstones in the cemetery are under these old trees.
The Historical Marker is located just outside of the cemetery entrance.
Headstones of Joseph Marion Oliver and Martha Jane Young Oliver are in a small plot that is enclosed with an iron gate. This site rests under one of the large oak tree in the cemetery.
